Dear Colleagues,
I am Chae Kwan Jung, and I am writing to you today not merely to announce a new organization, but to invite you to join a new community of practice.
We often describe language as a bridge connecting people and cultures. Motivated by this view of language as social engagement, I am honored to announce the founding of the Asia-Pacific Association of Language, Culture, and Education (APALCE).
Our disciplinary landscape is constantly evolving. Therefore, APALCE has been established with a dual purpose: to deepen the theoretical rigor of our field within the Asia-Pacific region and, crucially, to foster practical advancements in education. Beyond these academic goals, we seek to cultivate a supportive network that values the collegial bonds between established scholars and emerging researchers sharing this academic journey.
To translate these aspirations into reality, we have committed ourselves to three core initiatives:
First, we will facilitate the dissemination of high-quality scholarship through our regular publication, the Asia-Pacific Journal of Language and Culture Education (APJLCE). Second, we will cultivate a forum for genuine dialogic exchange through academic conferences, broadening the horizons of inquiry in language, culture, and education. Third, we will actively extend our disciplinary boundaries through robust exchanges with the international academic community.
However, an academic association should be more than just a venue for professional transactions. We aim to sustain a culture of fellowship and harmony among our members, reinforcing the social fabric of our profession.
I sincerely hope that APALCE will serve as a nurturing intellectual home for your research. I invite you to contribute your voice to this growing dialogue and ask for your continued interest and support.

언어란 결국 사람과 문화를 잇는 가장 따뜻한 가교라고 생각합니다. 이러한 뜻을 함께 나누고자 설립된 아시아태평양언어문화교육학회(APJLCE)의 소식을 정중히 전해 올립니다.
본 학회는 아시아·태평양 지역의 언어와 문화, 교육의 이론적 깊이를 더하고 실제적인 발전을 도모하는 동시에, 학문적 여정을 함께하는 동료 선후배님들 사이의 귀한 인연을 소중히 여기고자 첫발을 내디뎠습니다.
저희 학회는 이러한 지향점을 실천하기 위해 앞으로 다음과 같은 활동에 정성을 다하고자 합니다.
첫째, 학술지 『아시아태평양언어문화교육(APJLCE)』을 정기적으로 발간하여 깊이 있는 연구 성과를 공유하겠습니다. 둘째, 언어, 문화, 교육 연구의 지평을 넓히는 학술대회를 열어 소통의 장을 마련하겠습니다. 셋째, 해외 학계와의 활발한 교류를 통해 우리 학문의 외연을 확장해 나가겠습니다. 이와 더불어 학술적 성취를 넘어 회원 여러분의 친목과 화합을 돕는 다양한 활동을 이어갈 것입니다.
모쪼록 본 학회가 아시아·태평양 지역에서 언어, 문화, 교육 연구의 든든한 요람이 될 수 있도록, 여러 선생님의 깊은 관심과 따뜻한 동행을 부탁드립니다.
길가에 스치는 바람에서도 계절의 변화가 느껴지는 요즘입니다. 학문적 건승과 함께 댁내 두루 평안하시길 기원합니다.
